Albertson is a small hamlet and census-designated place in the Town of North Hempstead in Nassau County, on Long Island New York with a population of 5,225. Albertson is in Nassau County and is one of the best places to live in New York. Living in Albertson offers residents a sparse suburban feel and most residents own their homes. Many retirees live in Albertson and residents tend to be liberal. The public schools in Albertson are highly rated. The community is served by the Herricks Union Free School District. The first European settler, John Seren, came to the area later known as Albertson in 1644 by way of Connecticut. Some time after his arrival, a man named Townsend Albertson set up a farm in the area, which later became known as Albertson. The Long Island Rail Road came to Albertson in 1864.
