East Williston is an incorporated village in the Town of North Hempstead in Nassau County, New York. The community is served by the Herricks Union Free School District and the Mineola Union Free School District. The village was founded in 1926 with the purchase of 195 acres of land by William Chatlos, a New York City developer, with the intent to build a suburb with affordable housing for New York City residents. The community voted to split from Williston Park and formerly incorporate the village. The village is named for Samuel Willis, a late-17th Century settler of the area.
