Westbury Workwear | Work Jackets, Boots & Apparel
Westbury is an incorporated village in the Town of North Hempstead in Nassau County, New York. The community is served by the Westbury Public Schools. In 1657, Captain John Seaman purchased 12,000 acres from the Massapequa tribe of Algonquins. The portion of Jericho Turnpike that runs through Westbury was originally an foot trail used by local Native Americans. The community was named Westbury by a Quaker named Henry Willis in 1657. The first Society of Friends meetinghouse was built in 1700, and the later history of Westbury aligns itself with the history of the Friends to the point that they are nearly inseparable. The Long Island Railroad was expanded through Westbury in 1837, making it easier for recent immigrant families to find work in nearby farming lands. One of the most famous events linked to Westbury is Charles Lindbergh’s flight across the Atlantic which took off from the village.
